The Vijaya Hospital, Vijaya Heart Foundation and Vijaya Health Centre is 600 beded Multi Speciality Trust Hospital which is run by Vijaya Medical and Education Trust and Vijaya Hospital Blood Bank as a part of it. It is being run on No Profit and No Loss basis. The Vijaya Hospital which caters the need of the Patients in the city of Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu and also most parts of Andhra Pradesh. Vijaya Hospital - Blood Bank which forms an important part of this organisation, it is one of the kind which has license to prepare Blood Components and Blood Products. It caters to the need of all its In-Patients and Out-Patients and also surrounding Hospitals, especially those in need of Blood Components like Packed Cells, Platelets, and Fresh Frozen Plasma.
The motto of the Blood Bank is to provide safe Blood and Optimal use of Blood in the form of Components. The usage of Components asfirst line of treatment for the patient requiring the Blood Transfusion, has avoided the wastage of Whole Blood. It also provides extra Screening Facility for Hepatitis C Virus apart from other mandatory Screening, since Three Components prepared from one voluntary Donor has to be screened once and thereafter it can be used for three Different Patients in need. Thus adjusting to large need of Blood from small Voluntary Blood Donor Population.

The essential ACTIVITIES to fulfil our mission are:
- To actively recruit and retain voluntary donors to donate blood and blood Components.
- To collect blood from selected donors, Screen it for known Transmissible Diseases and correctly determine its blood group.
- To prepare and provide blood and blood products essential for use in Modern medical treatment.
- To haemapherese donors for plasma or platelets (haemapheresis involves the collection of blood from which plasma or platelets are extracted while remaining blood is returned to the donor).
- To store and distribute blood and blood products to patients throughout in a timely and efficient manner on a 24 hour availability basis.
- To provide limited therapeutic services.
- To provide specialized scientific consultative services and reference laboratory services relating to the practice of Transfusion Medicine.
- To provide specialist medical consultation and training in transfusion related technology.
- To provide an Autologous Transfusion collection service(blood donation for one's own use).
- To facilitate applied development and clinical research.
- To educate nursing, scientific and medical fraternities, as well as schools and the general public, about blood transfusion and related therapies.
