Diabetes, as we know, is a major growing health problem. It can be due to defective insulin production and action. Fifty percent of our outpatients have diabetes. They are not only evaluated for their glycemic control, but also for the various diabetic complications like neuropathy assessment, eye evaluation, cardiac and kidney assessments.

The Pituitary disorders includes tumours, infections, granulomatous disorders affecting the gland leading to either hypofunction or overproduction of various hormones.

Low function can be life threatening and needs to be identified early. The department does functional assessment through various laboratory tests.

The department also deals with pediatric problems like short stature, obesity, diabetes, thyroid disorders, electrolyte and metabolic problems and bone disease like rickets. Pubertal disorders like early puberty/delayed puberty, breast disorders, menstrual irregularities, failure of onset of puberty, excess hair growth in women, are also treated here.

The department also evaluates obesity, which is growing health problem in people of all ages.
